AMEND's Early Modern Workshop series 2027: Artefacts, Art, and Agency. Crafting Neurodivergent Joy

In this workshop series, we are exploring creative ways to answer two research questions:

1. What new understandings of literature do we gain when we allow our neurodivergent ways of reading to flourish and develop instead of suppressing them? 

2. How can early modern texts help us understand our lived experience of neurodivergence?

We are seeking neurodivergent participants to help us answer these questions! Maybe you are neurospicy, neuroexpansive, have a condition like dyslexia, ADHD, OCD, dyspraxia, Tourette’s, epilepsy, autism etc, and/or maybe you don’t need to put a label on it.

The series runs throughout 2027 at Swansea University, Singleton Park Campus. Topics include: silence and bibliotherapy, embroidery and rest as resistance, sensory engagements with books, analogy and poetic conceits and more.
