A Midsummer Ice Cream by The Rising Stars Theatre Company, Swansea

On Saturday 27th June 2026, some of the AMEND team went to see A Midsummer Ice Cream by The Rising Stars Theatre Company. It was our summer team outing.  


We loved this show! Thanks to the fairies, sprites, and all the cast and crew it was totally

magical and fun.  


A Midsummer Ice Cream was a joy-filled adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare involving music, dance, and modernised lines.

Every cast member brought their own angle to the play. For example, Helena (Pasha Richards-Parssa Nykoo) and Hermia (Charlie Martin) genuinely came across to me as friends at the start (rather than frenemies as they often are in other versions). Joseph Cullen memorably delivered Bottom’s song ‘The ousel cock, so black of hue…’ as a birdsong impression. Not only Wall, but also the Sword that stabs Pyramus and Thisbe was personified. 


Every member of the cast was fantastic at connecting with the audience, bringing us with them as the mechanicals’ play-within-the-play descended into uplifting chaos.
